Last year, I saw a blog post about the 52 Week Money Challenge and decided to try it. I printed out the label (this one is my fave one because it has check boxes!), taped the chart on a jar and started saving.
The one thing I did differently was not follow each week on the chart. I jumped around depending on my cash flow and crossed off that amount. I was worried I wouldn't be able to come up with over $200 in December or that I might fall behind if I couldn't put in exactly what was required. The check boxes made it easy to keep track and see where I was.
How did it work?
The goal is $1378 by the end of the year, but I saved nearly $2000! Once I got on the weekly savings kick I found myself wanting to add any free money that happened my way!
Needless to say, I'm doing it again in 2015! I found another blog article that explains how I do it (i.e. the jumping around with amounts.) She also has charts to keep track of each week through the years. A friend of mine wants to do this in reverse and you can find charts for that too. Just do a search!
I plan to keep better track of how I'm doing this year. The above pics are from 2014, but they are the only ones I took!
My jar is ready for the new year! Does this sound like something you'd like to try for 2015?
