Indigo Bay Sweet Romance Series: Stacy Claflin’s Sweet Reunion

Welcome to Indigo Bay!

I'm excited to part of the Spring 2018 launch of the Indigo Bay Sweet Romance series along with Pamela Kelley, Kay Correll, Jean Oram, Stacy Claflin, and Jean C. Gordon. The Indigo Bay world has been written so readers can dive in anywhere in the series without missing a beat so grab a glass of sweet tea and enjoy these sweet, heartwarming romances…

The fifth release in this Spring 2018 launch is SWEET REUNION by Stacy Claflin!

About the book…

She's determined to stay single, but everyone else is determined to see her married.

Maggie Kendrick is trying to start over in the enchanting beach town where she spent her summers growing up. Life has thrown her one too many wrenches, and now she's resolved to move on—without a man.

Aunt Lucille has made it her life's mission to see Maggie walk down the aisle. Everyone knows it too, as Lucille has tried to set Maggie up with every available bachelor in Indigo Bay.

Canyon Leblanc was Maggie's first love, and he just returned to town. Sparks start flying again—stronger than ever. Distance has definitely made their hearts grow fonder, but Canyon has spent the last seven years living a wild and destructive lifestyle, and that reputation labels him a less-than-desirable catch.

Maggie and Canyon see past each other's situations, but nobody in town wants them to get together, least of all Aunt Lucille. Friends, family, and even an enemy work hard to keep them apart.

Will Maggie open her heart to love again despite the many obstacles, or will the single life prove to be her best option?

Make That Appointment

This post is more of PSA type, but something I feel strongly about—colonoscopies. Yeah, not the most fun topic, but getting screened for colorectal cancer is important, especially with the rise in cases for those under fifty.

I'll be honest. The entire thought of having a colonoscopy was a little icky to me based on what friends had told me about the prep and the resulting, well, poop. My biggest reason for having one in December 2015 was because I wanted my husband to get his. I thought of the procedure as a box to check off so hubby would make his own appointment.

I never expected to wake up and hear my gastroenterologist tell me how lucky I was to have come in when I did. What he found turned out to be pre-cancerous. That meant I would be watched and not wait three, five, or ten years for another colonoscopy.

So what has this meant for me? More screenings. The first not quite seven months later and the second a little over an year and a half after that. The recent one led to my being referred to a surgeon.

I had surgery last Wednesday. I was so happy to be back home on Thursday, and even happier when my surgeon called on Friday afternoon, her day off, to tell me the pathology results—no cancer. I'll find out what's next at the end of the month during my post-op appointment, but I'm not worried. I have an awesome team in charge of my care.

While I was in the hospital, I read an article about lowering the colorectal screening age from 50 to 45. I was all smiles over this, and I pray the insurance companies follow the new recommendation.

Screenings provide a way for early detection. Many polyps removed are benign and no big deal, but sometimes they find something else and you might not have any symptoms or ones that can be explained as something else.  A colonoscopy isn't the only screening method. Talk to your doctor about what is best for your situation.

If you've been waiting or putting off a colonoscopy or other screening method, please don't. Make that appointment. If you don't want to do this for yourself, think of those who love you. Yeah, I'm playing the guilt card, but if it makes one person do this, I'll take that as a win.

Indigo Bay Sweet Romance Series: Jean Oram’s Sweet Forgiveness

Welcome to Indigo Bay!

I'm excited to part of the Spring 2018 launch of the Indigo Bay Sweet Romance series along with Pamela Kelley, Kay Correll, Jean Oram, Stacy Claflin, and Jean C. Gordon. The Indigo Bay world has been written so readers can dive in anywhere in the series without missing a beat so grab a glass of sweet tea and enjoy these sweet, heartwarming romances…

The fourth release in this Spring 2018 launch is SWEET FORGIVENESS by Jean Oram!

About the book…

Forgiveness. Second chances…and secrets.

Resort manager Zoe Ward has spent the past year throwing her broken heart into rescuing abandoned pets and ensuring vacationing couples have the trip of their dreams. She even helps engaged couples create their happily ever afters, something she’d believed she was going to have with Ashton Wallace before he left with barely a word about why. But now he’s back and looking for a second chance.

Ashton can’t stop thinking about Zoe. He knows all she wants is marriage and a family, and he was certain he could provide it. However, when his past life came crashing in before he could pop the question, he left Indigo Bay in order to protect Zoe. But now that things have settled out again, he’s back and looking to turn his biggest regret into a happy ending.

Will Zoe find room in her heart for forgiveness? And can Ashton prove that this time he’s here to stay? Because he’s been keeping secrets that could ruin everything…and Zoe knows it.

Authors with Heart: 2018 Tote Bag Reader Giveaway

*** The eight winners have been randomly chosen by Rafflecopter. I emailed them this morning (Monday, the 28th.) I will have the names posted on the widget after I hear back from them. Thanks to all who entered! ***

It's that time of year again! If you're a visitor to my Facebook page over the past month or two, you've probably seen my posts about the Fisher House Mother's Day tote bags I organize each spring. Fisher House provides military families with a place to stay while a loved one is receiving medical treatment plus offer many other wonderful programs.

These Mother Day goodie bags started as a solo endeavor five years ago when I answered a request from care package group I belonged to. The second year authors and friends helped me by sponsoring thermal totes and donating books/swag. In 2015, 2016, 2017, and this year, authors and a publisher did all the sponsoring and donating. I'm so touched by their generosity and call them #authorswithheart.

This year, we added a third Fisher House to the project which meant an sixteen additional tote bags needed sponsoring and donations. A big thank you to Jane Porter and Tule Publishing for sponsoring several thermal totes without being asked. We also had so many donations I could add to the reader prizes this year, too!

In early May, forty-six Thirty-One Gifts thermal tote bags were filled (so full they couldn't be zipped) and hand-delivered to the three Fisher Houses located in Western Washington (my hubby drove north to make two of the deliveries for me and accompanied me to the third.) Each tote bag included 9 romance novels (at least one hardcover, at least one trade size, one audio book, plus six more), a goodie bag filled with author swag (a variety of items from bookmarks, pens, measuring spoon, luggage tag, zipper pouch full of stuff, lip gloss, recipe cards, and so much more.), a goodie bag filled with pampering items (mini shower gel set, shower puffy, tissue, head band, footie socks, mini note pad, candy, mini sticky notes, and manicure set), a small stuffed animal, and a cone of flavored popcorn! Each also had something extra that authors had donated. Some of these fit inside the swag goody bag and others were tucked inside the tote.

Here are a few pics from this year's project!

2018 Authors with Heart

Authors with Heart Spotlight and Giveaway: Jennifer Peel’s Second Chance in Paradise

Here's the second “authors with heart” spotlight and giveaway for the upcoming 2018 project! In these features, you get to hear about a book and have a chance to win a prize! Each featured author helped with the 2018 Mother's Day thermal bags that were donated to three Washington state Fisher Houses—VA Puget Sound Healthcare System in Seattle, Madigan Army Medical Center at JBLM, and VA Portland Health Care System in Vancouver.

Jennifer Peel's new release SECOND CHANCE IN PARADISE is now available and in this week's spotlight. The book is the first in a new series called A Clairborne Family Novel as well as part of a multi-author collection called Destined for Love: Resorts. Here's what a reviewer had to say about Jennifer's book:

“Second Chance in Paradise proves once again why I keep Jennifer at the top of my must-read list. She never disappoints. Swoon-worthy heroes, fabulous settings, and fast-moving storylines make her books land on my favorites list. Loaded with humor Second Chance in Paradise was a great escape. I adored the characters and loved the setting. This second chance love story is one you don't want to miss!” —Kathy from I am a Reader

Here's the blurb for SECOND CHANCE IN PARADISE:

A first love that deserves a second chance.

Doctoral student Holland Reeves may have aced every class she's ever taken, but when it comes to life outside her lab, she finds she has more meaningful relationships with test tubes and pipettes than she does with people. That all changes when a surprise wedding invitation arrives, forcing her to return to the small coastal town of Paradise and the Clairborne Resort, where she left her first dream of being Mrs. Clairborne to begin the dream of becoming Dr. Reeves. There she must face her past and, to her surprise, the only man she ever loved, Porter Clairborne, the prodigal son who has unexpectedly returned.

Together, Holland and Porter must decide if their love deserves a second chance, and if Paradise will finally live up to its name or forever remain a town of broken dreams.

Available for purchase in stores and online, click here!

If you enjoy sweeter romances, you won't want to miss out on Jennifer's latest. Plus it's a second chance at love, and I, well, love that trope. What do you think of the story?

Tell me in the comment section to be entered to win a $5 Amazon gift card (sent via email). If the winner would rather have a Starbucks e-card, that's okay, too! I'll pick the winner from the comment section using random.org and announce the name next Monday morning (May 21st) here on this post and on my Facebook page, so be sure to check back! The winner must contact me by Monday, May 28th to claim their prize so please check back to see if you won. I do not contact winners.

*** The winner is Shannon Cappelle. Please see comments on how to claim your prize. ***

Rules: No purchase necessary. Open to entries from Tuesday, May 15 to Monday, May 21st at 6 am PDT. Must be 18 or older to enter. Winner is chosen using random.org and must claim their prize by 5/28/18. Odds of winning are determined by the number of entries. Not responsible for loss or damage during shipping. Unclaimed prizes will be given away at a later date, either here on the website or on my Facebook page. Void where prohibited.

A special thanks to Jennifer for her sponsorship of a tote and donating books for the Seattle/JBLM/OR VA Fisher House moms on Mother's Day.

About the book…

A little hope changes everything…

Artist Hope Ryan dreams of seeing her artwork displayed in top galleries again, but a devastating betrayal left her unable to paint as she once did. Instead, she settles for creating unique items for tourists and wedding couples in her hometown. Although Hope longs for more, she refuses to venture outside her comfort zone, fearing the heartbreak and disappointment of failing again.

Highly paid sportscaster Josh Cooper never overcame his bitterness after an injury on the football field sidelined him for good. Finding his solace in alcohol and women only made matters worse until he finally hit rock bottom. Now, he’s looking for redemption. When he’s asked to fly a wedding gown across the country for one of the victims of his wrongs, he doesn't hesitate.

Arriving in Indigo Bay, Josh finds himself captivated by the artist creating the wedding favors. He knows exactly what he wants—Hope—even though she deserves someone better. Can Josh prove he’s more than a broken has-been? Or will he not only lose Hope but also lose himself?
